Name:    Pundamilia igneopinnis  (Seehausen & Lippitsch, 1998)

Synonym:    Haplochromis igneopinnis

Common name:    Black & Orange nyererei

Location:    Lake Victoria around Igombe Island

Adult size:    Males 4.5 inches (12 cm) and Females 4 inches (10 cm)

Diet:    insectivore

Personal notes:  I received four (2M:2F) 1.5 inch (4 cm) Pundamilia igneopinnis in January of 2017 from a friend in Ohio.  Even at a small size the dominant male chases the subdominant male nearly non-stop.  I hope they breed, since the dominant male is courting both females quite a bit.  I then had the opportunity to purchase 10 more smaller igneopinnis from a different source in July 2017.  I will combine the two groups when the size of the two is closer.

Above you can see one of the young Pundamilia igneopinnis males at around 3 to 3 1/2 inches (8 cm). [June 2017]

Above you can see one of the very young Pundamilia igneopinnis males at around 2 inches (5 cm). [January 2017]

Above are some of my young female 1.25 inch (3 cm) Pundamilia igneopinnis females and males.
