Personal notes:  In October of 2008, I was surprised to find a tank of 1 3/4" (4 cm) Haplochromis sp. "piebald red fin" at my local aquarium store.  They were labeled "Victorian Piebalds" and no one was really sure if this was a valid species or just some hybrid given a generic commercial name.   I purchased one dark colored male and three bright orange females.  Then after further research, I found out that what I suspected at the LFS was true.  I had correctly picked out the orange piebalds with clear colored fins as the females.  But when I found some pictures of orange colored males with red fins I returned to the store to purchase one of those males as well.
